 April 2005

Traditionally the golf season officially starts as the azaleas bloom at the Masters.  Thoughts suddenly turn from shoveling snow to raking bunkers.  In celebration of making it though another winter, Haversham & Baker Golfing Expeditions has some great programs and value offers to take advantage of this spring that will make the most of your 2005 and 2006 golfing seasons.

2005: GOLF SCOTLAND’S VALUE DRIVE

The Open Championship returns to the Old Course in St. Andrews this July and that always means heavy early bookings for Scotland.  That does not mean, however, that Scotland is completely booked for the year. In fact, quite the opposite is true.  After the early bookings are made, there are always gaps in reservations that emerge within a property’s season.  Those golfers with flexible travel schedules can take advantage of tremendous offers being made to fill those gaps at the last minute.

This year, Haversham & Baker has an exclusive arrangement with Visit Scotland and a collection of the finest accommodations and courses to bring you exceptional values for travel THIS SUMMER!

Offers like: pay for two nights and the third night is free; complimentary dinners; complimentary golf.  All subject to availability, of course, but generally available throughout the season from May through October.

Our partners making these great value offers include:

Cameron House

Enterkine House

Gleneagles

Greywalls

The Marcliffe  at Pitfodels

Rusacks Hotel

The Marine Hotel, Troon

Myres Castle

The Udny Arms

St. Andrews Old Course Hotel

St. Andrews Bay Resort

THE 2006 RYDER CUP

The 2006 Ryder Cup Matches at Ireland’s K Club are perhaps the most eagerly anticipated in modern history, and Ireland will be the perfect backdrop to enjoy the festivities.  Haversham & Baker Golfing Expeditions has a limited number of core packages (tickets, lodging and transportation) for this exciting event which you can combine with exceptional golf in the days surrounding the matches.  Four night core packages are priced from $3325, sharing.

Wales, host for Ryder Cup 2010:  Do you like to golf with the locals while you immerse yourself in their customs and culture?  Then plan to be one of the lucky 100 who will spend five days before the Ryder Cup matches golfing, dining and socialising with your Welsh hosts at their home golf clubs.  The Wales experience culminates with a Welsh/American golf day at Celtic Manor which will be the next European course to host Ryder Cup in 2010. This celebration of Wales, its golf and its people is available exclusively through H&B.

Ireland, Scotland or England: Want combine your Ryder Cup experience with golf at Ballybunion, Turnberry, Royal Liverpool or other championship courses in the United Kingdom or Ireland?  We can arrange that as well.  But don’t wait too long.  Everyone is excited about Ryder Cup 2006 even if you’re not Irish.

For more information or to reserve your place watching golf history at the 2006 Ryder Cup, visit www.haversham.com or call 1-800-883-3633

MUIRFIELD 2006

A day at Muirfield, home to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, is considered by many members of the H&B Expeditionary Forces golfers to be the ultimate golf experience.   Morning fourballs, a sumptuous lunch in the clubhouse amid the ancient trophies and paintings, and afternoon foursomes.  There is a certain courteous, civilised ambience here which some mistake for stodginess.  We find it refreshing.

Whether playing Muirfield for your first time or 50th, the challenges of the course and the traditions of the club never grow tiresome.  Once the Visiting Diary for 2006 opens on May 1st 2005, the limited number of visitor tee times will go very quickly.  So grab your favourite golfing companions, select your travel dates and make 2006 the year you experience (or re-experience) the best day in golf.  H & B will custom design a complete golf travel experience for your group around your dates and your aspirations, perhaps even attendance at the 2006 Ryder Cup!

To reserve your preferred dates at Muirfield and discuss your itinerary, call Chris McConn at 1-800-883-3633, ext.108.

Whether to discuss one of these outstanding specific programmes or to discuss your dream itinerary, we look forward to hearing from you soon.

So many great golf destinations to be experienced, so little time.

Cheers,

Sam Baker
