Now you can play Royal Liverpool Golf Club (Hoylake)
These past four days demonstrated to the golfing world what privileged members of the H&B Expeditionary Forces have known for years: Royal Liverpool Golf Club presides over a marvelous, true links golf course that should not be missed. Click here for Major Haversham’s comments on Hoylake.
Hoylake is part of the most conveniently situated collection of championship links courses in the world. The collection includes Royal Lytham & St. Annes where David Duval won in 2001, Royal Birkdale where Mark O’Meara won in 1998 and at least five other links worthy of a visit.
We can arrange for you and your friends to play all eight in a week, staying in the same hotel and never driving more than an hour. We can even arrange for you to be a member of Royal Lytham for a weekend.
The Open returned to Hoylake. Is Porthcawl the next addition to the Rota ?
The quality of the links at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club near Cardiff in south Wales is unquestioned. The Golf Digest panel ranks it higher than the four English courses on the Open Rota and 15th in the world overall. Links Magazine named it one of the world’s ten most under-rated courses. Most importantly, our members have found it alone to be worth the trip to Wales , and they love the other Welsh courses! Click here for details on how you can play Royal Porthcawl with its members.
Commendations for the St. Andrews leadership team
We have been greatly impressed by the commitment to serving the golfer demonstrated by St. Andrews Links Trust General Manager, Alan McGregor, and his team. First, they implemented a new reservations scheme last year which helped thousands of visiting golfers save hundreds of dollars on the purchase of their guaranteed Old Course times. Contact us before September 1st for details on how you play St. Andrews in 2007 and save more than $1000 over what Golf Digest has reported some are charging to play the course.
Second, Alan has hired our good friend, Ewen Bowman, as the new manager of reservations and clubhouse operations for St. Andrews . Many of you came to know Ewen during the past 17 years when he played a myriad of roles at Turnberry, including the first manager of the clubhouse that was constructed just prior to the 1994 Open Championship. And if you met him you know of his twin passions for golf and service. St. Andrews has done itself proud luring Ewen away from Turnberry.
Finally, I recently criticized certain aspects of the St. Andrews caddie programme with remarks that were, quite frankly, so over the top their tone could have forestalled a serious discussion of the underlying concerns. I am pleased to report that Alan did not let the intemperate nature of my comments deter his commitment to constantly improving service. He graciously invited me to lunch to discuss the situation and I apologized to Alan and his team for expressly my concerns most inappropriately. When we lunch in September just after the Ryder Cup, I plan to share the comments we have received from our member’s post expedition evaluations. Please feel free to send me any comments—positive or negative—about your caddie experiences at St. Andrews which you would like to share with the Links Trust management.
When you lose your passport and American Express card, call H&B.
Every member of our H&B team here in World Headquarters and abroad is committed to providing you with Sterling Class Service. A most recent example is the help the Major’s Minions gave to Trooper Stephen of Livingston, NJ who had his passport, credit cards and money stolen during an expedition to Northern Ireland. When you click here for the saga, you’ll see that the thief got much less than expected when he took Stephen Centurion (Black) card.
So many great golf destinations to be experienced, so little time.
Cheers,
