The Starter's Hut
Your Journey Begins Here
When traveling across the pond, every round of golf begins with a conversation with the Starter.
These stalwarts provide an introduction to their club, a general overview of what’s ahead during the round, and a nugget or two about the course. Insights that often prove invaluable by the final tally.
The H&B Starter’s Hut serves much the same purpose.
You’ve arrived at the first tee of your journey excited and ready to swing away. Before you do, we offer this briefing as an introduction to Haversham & Baker: who we are, what sets us apart from other golf travel companies, and what you can expect ahead of and during your Expedition.

In the three decades since Sam Baker founded our company on his kitchen table, we’ve helped the members of more than 1,700 private clubs enjoy Golf at its Finest overseas. Although much has changed since then, the bedrocks of our company remain the same.
Custom Golf Travel That's Genuinely Custom
Have you ever noticed how some golf travel companies talk about custom planning, yet their website is mostly comprised of pre-packaged itineraries?
If you’ve arrived at our corner of the web expecting to find the same, allow us to save you some time: those packages don’t exist here. That’s because a truly custom golf trip can never come wrapped in a 7-day/6-night/5-round package.
Your trip should be uniquely yours.
You can play ten rounds of golf or just two. You can unpack once at a single destination or visit several regions. You can explore on your own or enjoy a personal guide. Whatever the combination, you can.
Your Journey Starts with a Conversation
Before we begin crafting your experience, your journey usually starts with a phone or video call with one of our Expedition Planning Managers.
Yes, we understand that calls are a bit passé in our digital world, but it remains the most effective way—short of meeting in person—to understand the nuances of you and your travel companions.
Perhaps your group includes a few golf architecture buffs who would enjoy an unheralded links down the road from Muirfield. That level of detail requires more than a pre-packaged itinerary. And it’s often lost in the brevity of email.
That’s why the opening drive of your Expedition takes place with a real conversation.
We promise this small investment of time will pay dividends later.

Golf at its Finest Meets Life at its Best
Throughout our three decades in business, nothing has distinguished H&B more than our steadfast belief that the time off the course is just as important as the time on it. We call it the Good Life, and there’s an entire page on our site dedicated to that philosophy.
Of course, some travelers prefer to play as much golf as humanly possible, with little concern for where they sleep, eat, or what they might miss along the way. There are plenty of other golf travel companies who will cater to just such a trip. And they’ll most assuredly be cheaper as well.
H&B is not the right choice for everyone.
And we believe you deserve that kind of honesty.
Our company is for those who care about every aspect of their travel experience. Who want to stop and smell the roses. Who enjoy accommodations and restaurants that meet their expectations precisely. Who want to connect with the local culture. And who understand that Benjamin Franklin had it right…
“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after
the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”
Where to Go From Here
If this sounds like the kind of experience you’re hoping to plan, you may be wondering where to begin.
For group leaders just getting started, we’ve created the Captain’s Guide. A collection of the most common questions we hear from Captains, along with the insights that make planning smoother and more successful.
Once you’ve reviewed the guide, you may want to explore our Yardage Book, where you’ll find deeper planning advice on everything from destinations and timing to tee times and travel tips.
And when the time is right, we’ll be ready to take the next step with you.
