The Redan Explained

The 15th at North Berwick – known as Redan – is one of the most challenging and duplicated holes in golf. But what exactly is a Redan? The good folks at Golf.com explain the origins of the hole, the best strategy for taking it on, and other notable copies of the original.

Scotch: A Golden Dream is a wonderful new documentary on the history, production, and enjoyment of Scotland’s greatest export. The passion displayed by the producers of whisky is evident throughout the film, and is likely to enhance your own appreciation of the golden nectar.

Located near the links at Lahinch, The Burren is a sprawling UNESCO geopark formed by glaciers some 350 million years ago. In addition to the lunar landscape, one will also find the Poulnabrone dolmen which dates to approximately 4000 BC. The Major’s advice: Extend your drive to include the coastal route back to Lahinch, but go early to avoid the crowds.

This week’s off-season throwback comes courtesy of a glorious day at Ballybunion in 2014 and Paul Ellerbeck of Dubuque Golf & Country Club… A few seconds later, this one found the bottom of the cup.
