Royal Troon to Host 2024 Open Championship

The R&A has announced that Royal Troon will host the 152nd Open Championship in 2024. This will be the 10th time The Open has been contested at Royal Troon and also marks the 100th anniversary of the Claret Jug’s first visit to the club. From The King’s second Open victory to the 2016 “Duel at Troon” between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson, Royal Troon has seen its fair share of memorable moments in The Open.

For the H&B Forces, the memories at Royal Troon often come in one of two places. The first is the famous par-3 8th, known as the Postage Stamp. The shortest hole on The Open venues is a thrill to play and provides one of the greatest “Kodak Moments” in golf. The hole also has the capacity to wreck a scorecard, especially if it includes a visit to the Coffin Bunker.

The other standout moment at Royal Troon comes just three holes ahead at the par-4 11th. Traditionally the most difficult hole on the course, the video below demonstrates why it’s a good idea to keep left on the aptly named “Railway.”

Major Haversham salutes our friends at Royal Troon as they prepare to be a part of history once again. If the 2024 edition is just half as exciting as the finish in 2016, it will no doubt be a memorable week.
