Ahead of the return of The Open in 2023, Royal Liverpool Golf Club is overseeing a variety of course updates to its historic links. The club has entrusted the work to Martin Ebert, the maestro who oversaw similar updates at Royal Portrush and the transformation of the Ailsa course at Turnberry.
The most notable change to the links at Hoylake is a new 17th hole. The short par-3 will play to an elevated green with the Dee Estuary serving as backdrop. A preview of the new 17th can be enjoyed below.
